About JonathansHeart.orgJonathansHeart.org and The Jonathan Wenhold Foundation are dedicated in loving memory to Jonathan Wenhold who passed away on October 12, 2004 after a sudden cardiac episode he suffered at school.Jonathan suffered sudden cardiac arrest and, although paramedics arrived quickly, he had been without a heartbeat for many minutes. Through defibrillation, the paramedics were able to restore his heartbeat, but Jonathan later died of brain injuries he sustained due to a lack of oxygen during his cardiac arrest. During his 8 days in the hospital, it was discovered that his cardiac arrest was due to a little known condition called Long QT Syndrome. This heart disease is genetic and effects the electrical system of the heart. Had an AED device been present on the school property his chances of survival would have been much greater. Since that day, the Wenhold family has been determined to find a way to make the best of their tragic loss, by helping to educate the community about Long QT Syndrome, the need for CPR training, access to early defibrillation with AEDs, and many other heart health initiatives. How you can helpThe Goal of the Jonathan Wenhold Foundation is to raise money for AED (Automated External Defibrillators) devices for schools and other public facilities, as well as for public education about Long QT Syndrome and other cardiac conditions. We currently are selling Wristbands as well as accepting donations on behalf of the fund. Along with educating the public about sudden cardiac death in children, our goal is to raise funds toward the purchase and training for publicly housed AED devices. Our goal is to raise over $x for the cause by December of 2005. We hope that you can help us achieve this goal with your charitable donations and wristband purchases. |
